They told me I was stupid so I
robbed them blind and
Hurt them where they live

(I took what they won’t give)

They told me I can’t learn so I
beat them up and
Watched the buildings burn

And my soul that burns to live
That rages, it
Was more dead every time the
morning bell rang

They put poison in my mind they
Hurt my feelings and they
Stamped out all the dreams that make me human

They threw water on the flame that is
my history

You know they swept us
from the streets and
Made us animals and
Chained us up for being young
And told us it was our fault?

Always our fault

She won’t teach me how to read and
tells me I can’t talk right so I
stabbed her with a pencil
watched her bleed
(for thinking she’s so smart)

They said that we can’t learn
And they lied to us from day one
So we came in blazing GATs like
The Alamo
Remember that?

Push each other into train tracks
And we raped each other backs turned
while the PS and the IS and
the elementary burned

The blaze excited us at last we—
Were free from penitentiaries
That you call class you
prison guard

I hate you

They lied to me what revolution means
They said it’s dead and
Every day they kill these
dreams of freedom
In my head

They scared to educate me
