Dear Readers,
Welcome to the new Dynamic magazine! We have changed the look, feel and format of Dynamic in conjunction with the 80th Anniversary year of the Young Communist League USA. Dynamic will be published as a quarterly magazine. To commemorate this historic anniversary, Dynamic will feature a series of articles to chronicle the history of our struggle. We encourage all artists, writers and poets to submit their work. We will soon be publishing our new editorial policy, but we encourage contributors to submit to us right away.
Dynamic will feature regular columns, an international section as well as a cultural section with reviews for music, live concerts, videos and books. As a Dynamic reader, you can send in suggestions of how and what Dynamic should look like. We welcome letters to the editor, we want to hear your comments on the articles and the issues that we cover. Most of our articles will have links to web sites and other resources so that you can get up to date information. We want Dynamic to be deeply related to mass movements today.
Since the September 11th terrorist attacks, youth and students have been in the front lines of the fight to maintain our civil liberties, and against the war. Services for youth and students are disappearing. Money is being taken from welfare and tuition assistance programs, and being diverted to the "war on terror" to the tune of more than fifty billion dollars.
This new military budget is beyond that of any nation in the world. There is a growing anti-war movement around the world and even here in the US. For some in our generation, we are joining in as our first anti-war movement. We are joining in the great American tradition of resistance to war.
Last but not least, this year, the YCL is preparing for its 7th National Convention. The convention will be held in Chicago from November 23rd- 24th. All of our members and friends are encouraged to come participate in this important event. Watch future editions of Dynamic and the web page at www.yclusa.org for more information.
We hope to see you over the next few months in the streets at protests and marches and in Chicago in November.
