The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) strongly condemns the Government of Israel for declaring open war against Palestine by mobilising thousands of its troops with sophisticated and heavy weaponry against the Palestinian people. The Israeli army took over the headquarters of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) with tanks and armed troops. Israeli troops entered Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat\'s compound on after Israeli forces knocked holes in the walls. Chairman Arafat was inside the compound, which was under heavy attack. WFDY believes there is severe risk to the life and security of Mr. Arafat.
WFDY strongly condemns the approach of the United States of blindly supporting Israel and its aggression against Palestinian people. WFDY expresses its serious concern over the criminal silence of European Union for blindness to the crimes committed by Arial Sharon government and its armed forces.
This is also a test for the United Nations to prove its credibility by taking concrete steps toward stopping Israeli aggression.
The international community should come forward to openly oppose the criminal aggression carried out by the the Israeli armed forces.
What is happening is the continuation of what the government of Israel has been doing against the people of Palestine these last many months. In the recent days the Government of Israel has declared all out war against Palestinians. They are doing everything possible to occupy Palestine by all means including sending of tanks, helicopters and by other sophisticated weapons. They are destroying the infrastructures of Palestinian National Authority and its institutions.
WFDY has repeatedly expressed its seriously concern for the loss of lives of innocent people either Palestinian or Israeli.
WFDY have consistently supported the Palestinian peoples right to an independent Palestinian State.
WFDY has already called upon all member and friendly organisation to observe March 30, which is \"Land Day\", as the international Solidarity Day with Palestine. WFDY feel that after this aggression, it becomes more important to have worldwide protest day against the aggression of Israel and to express solidarity with Palestine.
Therefore WFDY would like to request all progressive and peace loving forces to come forward and raise their voice by organising protest demonstrations, manifestations, signatures campaigns and other possible mobilizations from March 30 to April 1, 2002.
